Trill ENT Artist Lil Phat Gunned Down Yesterday

19-year-old rapper Melvin Vernell III, who went by the stage name Lil Phat, was found shot dead at 6:40 pm yesterday in the 1001 block of Johnson Ferry Road in Atlanta, GA.

Lil Phat was found in a car parked in a parking structure next to Northside Hospital Women’s Center. He was taken to nearby Northside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Atlanta Constitutional Journal, witnesses told investigators that they saw at least one suspect running from the scene of the crime. The parking deck has video surveillance cameras that the police are currently reviewing.

Police said Thursday night they knew of no connection between the shooting and the hospital or its Women’s Center.

Lil Phat was signed to Trill ENT, which included artists Lil Boosie, Webbie, Foxx, Lil Trill, KaDe, Mouse & Shell.

Our deepest condolences and prayers go out to the Vernell family.

  1. The Hip Hop community just can’t seem to escape the negative…hell the BLACK community can’t escape. This 19 year old young man hadn’t even really begun his life. #condolences to his family and friends.
