Is Paul Walker dead? TMZ part of ‘Fast and Furious’ death hoax

Is actor Paul Walker really dead? The buzz online about the “Fast and Furious” star dying in a fiery car crash started with an article on TMZ that confirmed that the actor was dead.

Twitter has been buzzing all night with fans wondering if the news is really true or if it is yet another celebrity death hoax.

On Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013 Walker’s reps confirmed that he is indeed alive and well. There was no car crash and he didn’t burn to death.

“He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He’s still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet.”

This is not a new trend, with many actors meeting their maker purely by rumor. However, it’s usually a rumor spread on Twitter, not one confirmed by the gossip site,TMZ.

As of 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday night, TMZ’s site was down. Perhaps it crashed due to fans who were furious to hear that they’d been fooled into thinking Paul Walker was dead.

The original story was published by TMZ early in the evening on Saturday with the headline, “Paul Walker Dead at 40 In Fiery Car Crash.”

Add Paul Walker’s name to the long line of stars who have been part of this very sick type of hoax.

He joins the ranks of countless celebrities who have been caught up in the web death rumor mill likeJustin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, George Clooney, Adam Sandler, Jeff Goldblum, Lady Gaga and Bill Cosby.

Go throw in a “Fast and Furious” DVD and get back to writing your Christmas list. There’s no death to report here.

  1. There was a hoax that same day, which his reps did indicate was false. But then the accident took place later that day. Turned out to be a creepy coincidence, but I think there is plenty of evidence to support that he actually died. LA Coroner’s Office confirmed it yesterday via dental records.
