Online fundraisers for Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson surpassed the amount of money raised for Michael Brown’s family as the officer’s supporters gathered at an afternoon rally Saturday.
Supporters of Wilson, the police officer who shot and killed Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., came to Barney’s Sports Pub in south St. Louis.
“Many of us have received death threats toward ourselves and our families,” said one speaker, wearing sunglasses, paint beneath her eyes and a baseball cap. “We will not hide. We will no longer live in fear … If you support Darren Wilson, make your voices heard.”
Protesters display signs during a rally in support of Officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 23, 2014, in St. Louis.
She refused to give the media her name, saying “You want my name? I am Darren Wilson. We are Darren Wilson.
The media has shown a strong bias against Wilson supporters, the speaker said, drawing loud applause from the crowd.
“We share the united belief that officer Wilson’s actions on Aug. 9 were warranted and justified and he has our unwavering support,” the woman said.
Another rally is planned for Sunday.
A crowd-funding page created for Wilson raised $235,010 from 5,902 people before organizers stopped accepting donations Friday after surpassing their goal of $100,000 in four days. The group then opened a new fundraising page, which already has more than $104,000.
This amount surpasses the more than $214,000 raised in support of the Michael Brown Memorial Fund. According to the page, which was set up by Brown family lawyer Benjamin Crump, “the funds will assist his family with costs that they will acquire as they seek justice on Michael’s behalf.”
The Support Darren Wilson group, which has more than 58,000 likes on Facebook, encouraged supporters who could not attend the rally to “blow up some Twitter accounts” with photos of supporters and the hashtag #iamdarrenwilson.

According to Mountain View detectives, Jeezy and five other people are suspects in the murder of 38-year-old Eric Johnson, who was shot five times backstage at the Shoreline Amphitheatre.
On Aug. 24, police executed a search warrant at the Verizon Amphitheatre in Irvine, Calif. where cops found an assault rifle on Jeezy’s tour bus. The five other persons taken into custody include Kena Marshall, 39, Peter Maynard, 38, David Kuniansky-Altman, 31, William Gilmore, 48, and Alexa Beason, 52.
“The investigation in Mountain View led to our detectives developing enough information to write a search (warrant), which was executed on the group in Irvine,” Mountain View police Sgt. Saul Jaeger said.
“This remains an active homicide investigation and detectives are aggressively following up on all leads,” Jaeger said.
As of publication, none have been charged with the murder of Johnson and police did not specify how Sunday’s search aided in Friday night’s death.

The night started with tension. An hour-and-a-half before the shots, Game came to the club and he and his buddies got into an altercation with security guards … there was a full-on fight. Game tried to get in was denied and left, but his buddies stayed behind. We do not know if they were involved in the altercation.
When anything involving race happens anywhere, you can be sure that Reverend Jesse Jackson will make it there.
Naturally, with a black man being shot in Ferguson, Missouri, he shows up. But this time, the Reverend didn’t quite think out his strategy; and when he pulled out his bullhorn, the protesters ran him out of town.
